Description

The project proposes the activation of Puerto Siles marina, in Canet de Berenguer, as an intervention designed to strengthen its relationship with the town, the seafront promenade, the beach and the port landscape. Located next to the mouth of the Palancia River and close to the industrial port of Sagunto, the site offered the opportunity to transform a mainly nautical infrastructure into a place with greater urban, social and leisure activity.

The proposal is based on two main objectives: to provide the marina with a new social club and to introduce a complementary system of uses capable of increasing activity throughout the year. The project therefore organises a mixed programme that brings together a social club, restaurant areas, leisure spaces, commercial uses, a sailing school, a conference room, lounge areas, parking, storage units, sports facilities and pedestrian routes linked to the waterfront.

The layout is structured around the relationship between the marina, the urban fabric and the beach. The uses with the strongest public character are located in the area closest to the town: commercial space, social club, conference room and sailing school. These spaces open towards the marina and connect with the promenade, creating a natural transition between urban life and nautical activity. At the same time, the auxiliary elements —parking, control areas and storage units— are integrated into the general operation of the site without dominating the overall image of the intervention.

Next to the beach, the project incorporates restaurant uses as a connecting element between the marina and the seafront. The restaurant is conceived with a large outdoor terrace, designed to extend the experience of the promenade and take advantage of the views towards the sea. At the most remote and calm points of the site, lounge areas are placed as spaces for pause and contemplation, linked to the horizon, the water and the quieter edge of the marina.

The project does not simply solve a functional programme. Its strategy is to build a new identity for Puerto Siles through the relationship between architecture, wind, sea and movement. The organic geometries of the complex evoke the sails of boats and are expressed through light, overlapping and aerodynamic volumes, as if shaped by the action of the wind. This formal condition unifies the different uses under a common language while organising circulation, access points and visual sequences.

The proposal also includes a bioclimatic reflection adapted to the site. The study of sunlight, humidity, ventilation and wind energy makes it possible to understand the building as a passive device capable of improving comfort through shade, natural ventilation and the use of environmental conditions. Rather than adding isolated solutions, the design integrates these strategies into the architectural form itself, reinforcing the relationship between use, climate and landscape.

Puerto Siles Marina is conceived as an intervention of port activation: a proposal to transform a nautical infrastructure into a more open, diverse and recognisable urban space. The project aims to intensify the life of the marina, improve its relationship with the surrounding context and create a new meeting point between the town, sports activity, leisure and the Mediterranean landscape.
